Adult Learners’ Week is celebrated across the country in the first week of September, with hundreds of events and activities designed to highlight the benefits of lifelong learning.
And Western College is encouraging adults of all ages in Dubbo and surrounding areas to take the leap and rediscover learning during Adult Learners’ Week.
This year, the week is all about celebrating those who have taken that leap and rediscovered learning, and the difference it has made in their lives.

For some, rediscovering learning may have led to a new job or career change, for others it could be about gaining essential life skills, giving back to their community or about building self-esteem and confidence. Or it could simply be about pursuing a new passion or interest.

Some eight million Australians learn for work or pleasure each year at adult education centres including neighbourhood houses, community centres, men's sheds, training organisations, TAFE colleges and universities.
Western College has evolved – and continues to evolve – to meet the needs of business and community members in their pursuit of innovative education and training opportunities and to reach out to those who need assistance to realise their education goals and participate productively.
“Adult Learners’ Week is the perfect time to come down to Western College and take that learning leap in a safe and supportive environment,” chief executive officer Rene Wykes said.
