The panels are part of the Heritage Trail Walk and reveal some of the City’s lesser known history of society and culture and crime and punishment.
The Dubbo City Heritage Walk was an initiative of Friends of the Western Plains Cultural Centre.
About 15 people took part in the first Society and Culture heritage trail walk last Thursday which was presented by Dubbo Macquarie Regional Library’s local studies officer Simone Taylor.
Ms Taylor researched and wrote the draft of on the Society and Culture panels.
Ms Taylor said the walk, which began at the front of the Dubbo Library where the first society and culture panel is situated, will allow her to speak about some of the interesting and lesser known facts that she was not able to fit on to each panel.
“I really enjoyed working on these panels,” Ms Taylor said.
“It was interesting learning about Dubbo’s history.”
Ms Taylor said the feedback she has received from people had been really positive.
“A few people have come up to me and told me they enjoyed reading them,” she said.
“Which is lovely… because it’s the town’s and people’s history.”
Western Plains Cultural Centre manager Andrew Glassop will present a future heritage walk on the Crime and Punishment panels.
