Some major changes in regards to the rules of the game will come in effect from October 1 and this weekend’s seminar will help umpires from around the region explain the shift.
One of the biggest changes is in regards to play behaviour, with umpires now having the power to send players from the field.
Some offences can be punished by the awarding of penalty runs to the opposition while the most extreme cases can result in players being sent off.
In another adjustment, players can now not be given run out if their bat bounces into the air after being grounded behind the crease.
There are many other changes which will be explained on the weekend, with the adjustments not only to affect Dubbo cricket, but the game across the world.
The alterations to the rules have been made by the Marylebone Cricket Club, custodian of the laws of cricket since they were first created in 1787.
Anyone wishing to attend, and all local cricketers are asked to do that, can call Phil Lenord on 0428 216 730 to register.
