Both the premiers side and the young guns will be in action at Forbes on Saturday in the qualifying semi-finals before the second grade side travel to Bathurst for Sunday’s elimination semi-finals.
The Roos’ third grade side finished fourth but enjoys a week off after the battling fifth-placed Parkes Boars, a side which won just once all season, was unable to commit to fielding a side this weekend.
The second grade outfit finished fourth after the regular season but was a huge 19 points clear of fifth-placed City.
While City battled at times this season, it tested the Roos on both occasions the two sides did battle this season.
The Roos prevailed both times but it was never easy. The first clash, way back in round two, was won 21-17 at No. 1 Oval before the Dubbo side travelled to Orange later in the year and scored a 24-19 win.
At Forbes on Saturday, the young Roos go up against Orange City.
The two clubs have long been powerhouses in colts, with City finishing second behind Bathurst Bulldogs this year while the Roos, having to deal with a host of players being called up to first grade at different times this year, won 14 of 18 matches to finish third.
Hamish Smith has become a regular but Mick Hollow and Ben Mastronadi are still expected to have the likes of Josh Jasprizza, Charlie Lawry, Patty Berryman, Danny Ryan and Remus Watson on deck on Saturday.
The third grade side will enjoy the weekend off before playing the loser of Saturday’s clash between the Orange Emus and Bathurst Bulldogs.
