A crowd of hundreds braved the cold weather on Saturday to be part of the historical celebrations in Cameron Park and around town.
There was a variety of events and attractions including the official ceremony with historical re-enactment, market stalls, tours to the Wellington Caves or Burrendong Dam and Cobb and Co Coach rides.
The official ceremony also included the unveiling of the Binjang Memorial.
The feedback from those who attended on Saturday has been overwhelmingly positive.
The success of the day was a credit to the Bicentenary Committee who put in a lot of work to deliver this event to the community. Many thanks for your efforts.
Of course there is still plenty more to celebrate in Wellington during the rest of this bicentenary year.
Next up will be the SpringFest celebrations on the weekend of 22 to 24 September, which will include the Bicentenary Street Parade, markets, jazz with the excellent Tin Roof Band playing at Osawano Garden, Quota Art Exhibition and the 70km Cycle Classic.

DREAM Festival
It was a pleasure to attend the launch of the 2017 Macquarie Credit Union DREAM Festival on Monday at the Church Street Rotunda.
Every year the DREAM Festival delivers an exciting program of art, entertainment and music and this year will be no different.
The DREAM Festival Committee gives the community an opportunity to participate in something they would normally have to travel out of the area to see.
This year the Festival will run from 12 October to 22 October and will include all the long-time favourites such as Pianos on the Pavement, Sushi in the Shoyoen Gardens and the Lantern Street Parade.

Living in a Sustainable City
Preparations are in full swing for the 12th annual Dubbo Sustainable City Expo and Science Festival to be held on Saturday 2 September 2017 at the Western Plains Cultural Centre from 10am to 2pm.
The Dubbo Sustainable City Expo and Science Festival aims to provide information to the region on how to live and work more sustainably, promote the wonders of science and highlight how science can help to achieve a sustainable future.
The event will feature sustainability living exhibits from local businesses and community groups sharing information on how to reduce household energy and water bills and create less waste.
There will be plenty of entertainment for the kids, including hands-on science exhibits and activities and competitions to enter.

Dubbo Stampede
There will be many keen runners joining the herd this weekend for the annual Dubbo Stampede at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
This event has gone from strength-to-strength and this year the organisers have introduced a new event with the Wallaby Wheel.
The Wallaby Wheel is open to wheelchair participants and takes place in the 5.3km Dingo Dash event on the wheelchair accessible track.
The Stampede also includes a 10km run as well as the half-marathon and marathon.
Congratulations to the organisers and good luck to everyone running, or walking, this weekend.
