Monday marked RSPCA’s Cupcake Day. The annual event raises funds for the charity, with every dollar going to help rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the 135,000 animals that pass through the shelters every year.
Camille Lyons said they had decided to take part in the fundraising event simply because the staff were all dog lovers.
“This is a cause we can all get behind,” Ms Lyons said.
Starting at 10.30am, the ladies said they were going to continue to sell their cupcakes until there were none left.
Everyone had been a big fan of Daisy, Ms Lyons said.
According to the RSPCA, less than two per cent of its funding comes from the government, leaving them to heavily rely on donations.
Selling 12 cupcakes for $2 each can provide an orphaned kitten with a bed, litter tray, meals and a toy. While 175 cupcakes subsidises the cost of prosecuting a cruelty offender in court.
