The Mac Daddy Cup has been running for the past two years and was created to mark respect for a local club member and rider, Mitch Mackay who passed away in 2015 after a battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.
“Dubbo Dirt Bike Club is extremely proud to hold the annual event to commemorate a friend, family member and fellow MX racer and to be able to give back to the local community,” DDBC member Bec Eade said.
In the past two years the DDBC have donated over $4000 to cancer charities and patients, including the Dubbo Base Hospital Special Care Nursery.
This year money raised was donated to Grace Sharp who is fighting a metastatic rhabdoid tumour, a rare and aggressive cancer.
“DDBC is honoured and overwhelmed to receive the support from the community and importantly be able to give back to the community,” Ms Eade said.
She said there was a great turnout of riders at this years Cup, who travelled from across the central west and beyond, including Wagga Wagga, Tamworth and the south coast.
“This year there was $1,500 in prize money up for grabs, which attracts a large number of new and local riders,” Ms Eade said.
A total of 136 riders participated in the event, which Ms Eade described as “extremely high.”
“Mac Daddy brings up to 150 competitors and families from across the region including NSW and has included Australian past and present dirt bike champions,” she said.
In the Mac Daddy Shoot Out race, Tom Geale came first, Luke Dinnerville placed second and in third place was Luke Harding.
Bec Hartin came first in the Women’s race, with Kyra Humphries placing second and Emma Bennetts getting third.
In the Seniors Open race first place went to Luke Dinnerville, with Luke Harding placing second and Tom Geale in third.
Wes Barnes was awarded first place in the Over 35 race, Ben Dennis came second and Shane Menzies awarded third.
