Feast of Artists coordinator Tamara Lawry has lined up the 2015 Sydney Peace Prize recipient George Gittoes to speak to the crowd and perform with his partner Hellen Rose, the “only person to travel with him into war”.
An artist and filmmaker, Mr Gittoes has worked in war zones across the globe with peace keepers and as an Australian War Memorial photographer.
Ms Lawry, a visual arts and photography teacher in Dubbo, has named the dinner after Mr Gittoes’ autobiography, Blood Mystic.
The dinner at Dubbo RSL Memorial Club will celebrate the collaboration between artists and teachers in the Feast of Artists, a visual arts study day for art, photography and visual design students who will be in year 11 or year 12 in 2018.
Students across Western NSW are being invited to the study day where 39 artists will run sessions.
Tickets to the dinner can be purchased at the club. Proceeds will go to the Homes for Heroes.
