Nigel Christmas was the impressive winner of the B-grade time trial, covering the 12.2km course in 18 minutes 3.86 seconds (average speed 40.52km/hour) with Simone Grounds (+27.64 seconds) in second, Craig May (+1 minute 19.08 seconds) in third, Darrell Wheeler (+1 minute 29.27 seconds) in fourth and Alex Russell (+2 minutes 17.66 seconds) in fifth. 

NSW Masters time trial champion Jeff Sargent took out the C-grade time trial in 20 minutes 35.24 seconds (average speed 35.56km/hour) over Daniel Roberts (+2 minutes 31.85 seconds), while Time Barnes was the fastest D-grader with 20 minutes 21 seconds (average speed 35.97km/hour) over Sarah Gordon (+42.03 seconds) and Brodie Wheeler (+1 minute 53.88 seconds). 

Jason Canobie took the E grade time trial in 27 minutes 26 seconds at an average speed of 26.68km/hour. Hamish Murphy was the winner of round 16 of the Dubbo City Toyota Junior Road Racing series, taking out the 7km handicap over Jess Fuller and Georgia Farr, while Cooper Farr edged our Mackenzie Murphy in the participation race. 

Round 16 of the Dubbo City Toyota Road Racing Series continues Saturday, with a 38km handicap on the Mogriguy course, while the Dubbo City Toyota Junior Road Racing Series will take place on Sunday on the Sheraton Road course. 

In other news, Dubbo Cycle Club juniors Kurt Eather, Danny Barber, Dylan Eather and Haylee Fuller were crowned state champions at the NSW Junior State Road Championships at Wagga over the weekend. Kurt Eather dominated the under-17 men’s division, winning gold in the individual time trial, road race and criterium, while club mate Luke Ensor has regained some of the form that saw him win numerous state titles by taking out silver in the under-17 men’s road race and bronze in the criterium.

Danny Barber was ultra-impressive in taking our the under-15 men’s individual time trial ahead of Dylan Eather, though Eather turned the tables on Barber to take out both the road race and criterium, with Mitch Hines finishing third in the criterium. Hines also finished fifth in the criterium and ninth in the time trial, while Lachie Clark was 15th in the time trial, ninth in the road race and sixth in the criterium. Haylee Fuller topped the podium in both the under-15 women’s individual time trial and criterium and was a solid fifth in the road race, while first year under-15 Zara Fuller was fourth in the time trial, sixth in the criterium and seventh in the road race.

Imogen Fuller was third in the under-13 girls criterium and fourth in the road race and time trial with twin sister Makayla fifth in the time trial and road race and sixth in the criterium, while Emily Hines was fifth in the criterium, sixth in the road race and eighth in the time trial.

Zac Fuller and Trent Hines were solid throughout the under-13 men’s division races, with Fuller finishing sixth in the road and eighth in the trial and Hines finishing 11th in the time trial and tenth in the road race, with both riders just outside the placings in the criterium.
