Tammy, who works at the washroom at Flick Dubbo rescued the small fox terrier and a larger dog from getting hit by traffic on the Mitchell Highway near Molong.
A witness to the event was full of praise for the act. The witness, who wanted to stay anonymous, said Tammy both saved the dogs from getting hit by a car and prevented a potential traffic accident.
Tammy sacrificed her own time to ensure the animals were safe, the witness said, expecting nothing in return for the good deed.
Cats and dogs that have been found can be handed over to the Dubbo City Animal Shelter.
Aniamls are kept at the shelter until the owners can be located or, if no owner is found, the pet is adopted.
The Dubbo City Animal Shelter is located at 189 Boothenba Road. After hours pens, which are checked daily, are available for the animals to be dropped off.
