A driver was left trapped after an accident between a truck and car on the Newell Highway on Wednesday.

At about 11.45am, 20 kilometres south of Dubbo on the road towards Parkes, a small sedan and a truck collided.
Orana Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Dan Skelly said both drivers avoided life-threatening injuries.
“Thankfully, the 50-year-old driver of the small sedan escaped with non-life threatening injuries. He was trapped for a short amount of time but was freed by the VRA [Volunteer Rescue Association] and is now on his way to Dubbo Hospital,” Inspector Skelly said at the time.
“The driver of the truck was uninjured and is assisting police with inquiries in regards to the accident.”
There were significant delays on the Newell Highway in both directions until Wednesday afternoon. Around lunch time one lane was reopened to allow traffic to flow.
NSW Police, Ambulance, VRA, Roads and Maritime Services and Fire and Rescue attended the accident.
12.30pm: One lane of the road has been opened with contra-flows in place.
12pm: The Newell highway has been closed 13km south of Dubbo following a crash between a truck and a car.
Live traffic are reporting there are persons trapped in the car at the scene.
Police, Ambulance, VRA, RMS and Fire and Rescue are on scene.
It is understood the fuel tank of the truck has ruptured in the collision.
Exercise caution if travelling in the area, and please allow extra travel time.
