Nominations for candidates in the Dubbo Regional Council elections closed at midday on Wednesday.
There was a rush of residents who put their names forward in the final 24 hours.
The candidates in the Central ward are: Vicki Etheridge, Nikki Catelotti, Josh Black, Greg Matthews, John Ryan and Kris Stevens.
East ward residents will be able to vote for: Stephen Lawrence, Cody Jones, Dayne Gumley, Lisa James, Chris Edwards and Ana Pateman.
There are five candidates in the North ward: Ben Shields, Tyler Przerada, Nathan Ellis, Merrilyn Mulcahy and Jane Diffey.
Meanwhile in the Dubbo South ward are: Greg Mohr, Shayne Stiff, Kevin Parker, Manny Portelli and Douglas Prior.
The Wellington ward nominees are: Mike Augee, David Grant, Mark Griggs, Anne Jones, Jacob Perry and Adam Ryan.
Residents in the Dubbo local government area will vote for two candidates from the ward they live in.
Returning officer for the Dubbo Regional Council election Fiona Prentice said she didn’t have any expectations on the number of people who would nominate.
“I have no idea what it was going to be like. Really, it’s just an unpredictable thing. It’s just take what comes,” she said.
While there are 28 candidates looking to stand on the amalgamated council, in the last Dubbo City Council elections there were 53 residents who put their hands up. In Wellington Council there were 16 candidates at the last election.
Tuesday was the busiest day the returning office had had so far, Ms Prentice said, as the staff worked to process the last-minute nominations.
Only two candidates have indicated they have party affiliations. East Ward nominees Mr Lawrence and Mr Jones have both stated they are Country Labor. The duo will run a group above the line on the ballot paper.
Of those on the official list, six were councillors in Dubbo or Wellington before the amalgamation.
The draw to determine the order the candidates would be listed on the ballot papers was held on Wednesday night.
After proof reading the ballot papers the returning office will get everything prepared for pre-polling to begin on August 28, before polling day on September 9.
“All voting places will have all five ballot papers, simply because wards are new and people are still unsure of where they are,” Ms Prentice said.
