Mr Hall has been selected to play the tuba in the NSW Department of Education Arts Unit Orchestra for their overseas tour to England and Ireland in January.
“There is no doubt that Robin has outstanding talent as a tuba player,”
“It is a great achievement to be chosen for the Arts Unit Orchestra, as he was competing with students from metropolitan and regional public schools across NSW,” conservatorium director Vivienne Winther said.
Robin started learning the tuba with the conservatorium in primary school.
“I was pretty tall in year five so it seemed like I was the right kid to play the biggest brass instrument. The teacher got me to dig to the back of the storeroom and we found a tuba.”
In January he has also been selected for the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra.
“I think I have about two days between both events, and they couldn’t be more different, so it will certainly be a very interesting experience to go from one to the other.”
