At 8.30am on Saturday Orange police were called to a house on Churchill Avenue.
Inside the residence was a man believed to be armed with a knife.
Canobolas Local Area Command Chief Inspector Dave Harvey said the situation was resolved “without incident” by the early afternoon.
“Police and emergency services were called to a home in Orange for reports of a possible self-harm incident,” chief inspector Dave Harvey said.
“A police operation was conducted involving negotiators.”
Chief Inspector Harvey confirmed no one was injured during the operation.
Police from Blayney, Peak Hill and a number of Western Region specialist tactical officers and negotiators from Dubbo responded.
After the siege was resolved the man was arrested and taken to Orange Health Service for a mental health assessment.
