The Wyndham Scheme, introduced in NSW in 1962, extended high school from five to six years.
More than 220 students enrolled at Dubbo High School in 1962, with 183 students sitting the first School Certificate in 1965 and 84 students going on to the first Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 1967.
Reunion organiser Ron Everett said the decision to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wyndham Scheme and inaugural HSC came from former students who attended and enjoyed events organised as part of the Centenary of Public High School Education in Dubbo during April.
“We had a good roll-up of the 1962-1967 vintage in April, and they were all for getting together again later in the year, around HSC time, to mark the occasion,” he said.
The reunion is expected to bring former students back to Dubbo from across Australia.
