Mr Chapman wants Dubbo to beat Seattle’s title for having the highest number of residents trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
About 70 per cent of Seattle residents – or 70,000 people – know how to perform CPR, Mr Chapman said. Unfortunately in Dubbo is only about 10 per cent.
It’s a tall ask, but at the end of the day Mr Chapman said he’d simply be happy if 300 or 400 people learnt the life-saving skill.
“I think there’s a thought in the community that we’ll never never need it but unfortunately we do. You may never use it, and most people won’t, but if you’re in that situation then you can get in and do something,” he said.

“I always say ‘why do people stand around at car accident scenes? Because they don’t know what to do’.”
Throughout September, Mr Chapman will be holding 19 first aid courses to teach CPR.
The courses will be held every Monday and Wednesday night from 6pm, as well as Saturdays from 8.30am and 1pm. They’ll run for about 3.5 to four hours.
