Police believe a juvenile has been responsible for at least a dozen property-related offences through July so far.
The unfortunate run of incidents comes on the back of exceptional figures in recent times, which has seen the break-and-enter rate as low as it has been in the past 10 years.
Acting Superintendent of Orana Local Area Command, Scott Tanner, said police have engaged in multiple foot pursuits with the alleged offender, and while confident of apprehending him, has warned people to be cautious with home security.
We have an idea who the person is we are searching for, and we’re confident we will find him.

“There has been a lot of activity down in the South Dubbo area over the past couple of weeks, which we believe has been perpetrated by an offender from out-of-town,” Act Insp Tanner said.
“It is disappointing because we had made such great inroads with our statistics, but unfortunately this month’s figures will probably look a bit ordinary.
“This person, or persons because he may not be acting alone, is looking for windows or doors that haven’t been secured, and is using them to gain entry.
“We just remind people to make sure that before you go to bed, or before you leave your home during the day, to ensure that all the windows and doors are locked.
“Even when you are in your home of an evening, put the deadlock on the door to make it as tough as possible.
“We have an idea who the person is, and we’re confident we will find him.”
The alleged offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged between 15-20, about 5’10” tall, of thin build and with shaggy hair.
Act Insp Tanner said if anybody in the community believed their house was under threat they should call Triple 0 immediately.
“We don’t encourage people to approach or try to apprehend a home invader,” he said.
“If someone is in your home it’s certainly best to call Triple 0 or the Dubbo Police Station directly.”
