Ms Cannon was one of the winners in the Great Business Program’s customer feedback initiative.
Customers who visited participating businesses between June 2 and July 10 were invited to give feedback about the organisation. From there, two lucky people were awarded $2,500 to spend locally.
Ms Cannon, who is from Dubbo, said she gave feedback on four different locations across the city.
“I just saw the beautiful sign and the form and so I filled it out and put it in the box,” she said.
The Great Business Program is an initiative of Dubbo Regional Council designed to help businesses grow and develop.
Council’s economic development officer Jacki Parish said more than 4000 bits of feedback were received through the Shop in My Business competition. The information was collated and given to the businesses to allow them to improve their services, Ms Parish said.
Dubbo Business Chamber president Matt Wright said the comments from the public allowed the businesses to see things from another perspective.
As part of the program businesses also had the opportunity to apply for a Business Development Grant of $10,000. The successful applicants will be announced next week at the Dubbo Business Chamber breakfast.
It could make an incredible difference to a business, Mr Wright said, as seen from past winners.
“Saddler and Co, they were working out of a shed in the backyard and look where they’re at now. And Little Big Dairy Co, there’s not much that needs to be said about them,” he said.
There were 133 businesses across Wellington and Dubbo that registered to be a part of this year’s Great Business Program.
“It’s right there in the name. It’s a great program,” Ms Parish said.
