With an increased total purse of $4400, the tournament promises to be bigger and better than last year’s success.
Proudly sponsored by Sainsbury Hyundai, the fours’ tournament is an open medley event - meaning teams can comprise men, women, or a mixture of both – a format that Sainsbury is happy to promote and one that is rather unique in bowls in this area of the state.
The one-day event, commencing at 9am, comprises four games over 10 ends each (two before lunch and two after), so that it gives all teams a more than even chance of success.
After the four games, all winners play off over three ends.
The $120 entry fee per team includes morning tea, a top lunch, and high tea added features and surprises to ensure everyone has a wonderful day.
Club Dubbo bowls manager Anthony Brown and his band of willing helpers have been putting in the hard yards to ensure the continued success of an event that has become one of the biggest on the club’s playing and social calendars.
The winning team on the day will take home $1600, with second place to secure $1000, third gets $800 and fourth place will walk away with $600.
There are also best card prizes to have distributed for Rounds 3 and 4 of $200 per team.
Club Dubbo’s superb greens and surrounds will delight all competitors, and the bar staff are ready to cater for everyone in attendance.
During the tournament, Hyundai models will be on display, and leading Hyundai sales representative Mitch Ipkendanz will be on hand to answer questions.
Last year’s winners, led by Don Sullivan, will be defending their title as the same group but they are sure to face some stiff opposition over the course of the day.
Dubbo Railway have fielded their three teams that will competing in the state Pennant finals on 5th August, and they will be using the event to have a final hit out before they play at St John’s Park.
Other teams have nominated from ACT, Molong, Wellington, Narromine, Blayney, Mudgee, Dubbo City and Club Dubbo.
Entries close on Thursday Night, and there are still team and individual spots available for anyone who may be wanting to participate.
Bowls manager Anthony Brown will be only too pleased to take your entry on 0403 401 567.
