Dubbo Macquarie River Bushcare is inviting community members to get involved in its National Tree Day activity.
The group has 500 native trees to plant at Troy Bridge Reserve.
The activity, a chance to get close to nature and have a positive impact on the environment, is one of hundreds that will take place across Australia on Sunday.
The Dubbo event will be held between 9.30am and midday and a barbecue lunch will be provided.
“Kids love planting trees, so come along and help us make this site one of the most beautiful spots on our river,” bushcare member Melissa Gray said.
The holes for the 500 trees will already be dug and participants will have the chance to hear how important it is that the rivers are connected.
Participants are advised to bring water and some sunscreen, and wear long pants and sturdy boots.
If they have gardening gloves and a spade, they are asked to bring them along as well, and the group will also have some there.
Parking be on the corner of the Newell Highway and Troy Bridge Road (access from Troy Bridge Road) and will be clearly marked.
Last year more than 124,000 NSW volunteers helped to plant 160,000 native trees and plants at more than 1330 sites across the state.
