Casey won the Dubbo leg of the Country Girl Management Model Search recently. She’ll now head to the Gold Coast for the chance to win a modelling contract just like Miranda Kerr.
“Experiencing the whole thing and what it’s going to be like made me go ‘I love this stuff, it’s so cool’,” she said.
The teenager nearly didn’t enter the competition. She was away in Newcastle when she fond out her mum had entered on her behalf.
What followed was a busy three days of walking the runway and photoshoots, before CGM announced Casey as the Dubbo winner.
The finals will be held in December and before then Casey said she had been spending time learning how to improve her modelling skills.
“I have to self-teach. You get pictures from magazines, hang them on the mirror, and try and match the poses that they do,” she said.
“You don’t think about how to walk, you don’t think ‘oh, I’m meant to have my head like this, I’m meant to have my chin up, I’m meant to smile or I’m meant to have a straight face’, you don’t think about all of that but now I have to.”
Even if she doesn’t win at the finals, Casey said she was going to continue to pursue a career in modelling. She would send her portfolio to agents with the hope of working in the print industry, she said.
“A full-time career would be nice, but I’ll also get a business degree as well in case it doesn’t turn out,” Casey said.
