Dubbo Regional Council has chosen 22 community groups for Round Two of the Stronger Communities Fund Community Grants Program.
Funding for the program came from the NSW government following the amalgamation of Dubbo and Wellington councils. Dubbo Regional Council was awarded $1 million to be distributed across three financial years.
A high quality of applications were received, administrator Michael Kneipp said.
“Two projects, the Hear Our Heart Ear Bus Project and construction of a new amenities block for Mumbil Community Hall, will receive the maximum grant available of $50,000,” he said.
“These are major community projects which will have long lasting benefits for the community at large.”
Organisations that provide valuable social and educational services, such as Wellington Connect, the Police Citizens Youth Club and Dubbo and District Kindergarten will also be given significant grants.
It would ensure increased participation in various programs, Mr Kneipp said.
Sporting groups across Dubbo and Wellington are also well represented. Australian Football, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Softball, Junior Rugby Union, Senior and Junior Soccer, Tennis, Netball and Touch clubs will receive grants totalling $82,900.
