On Sunday the temperature plummeted further to minus 4.4 degrees after dipping to minus 4.2 on Saturday, Bureau of Meteorology data shows.
It was the chilliest start recorded for at least the past 13 months.
But despite the freeze, Dubbo’s record low for July remains intact - minus 5.4 recorded on July 2, 2002.
While overnight temperatures left the city’s people and animals shivering, it didn’t take too long for them to thaw out.
With the sun shining the mercury reached a maximum of 17.3 degrees on Saturday and 19.3 degrees on Sunday.
Tuesday’s forecast is for a low of minus 1 degrees and a high of 19.
Clouds will deliver a milder four-degree start, before the temperature climbs to 20 degrees, in the forecast for Wednesday.
Temperatures are set to range from 0 to 18 on Thursday, 3 to 21 on Friday, 1 to 23 on Saturday and 8 to 22 on Sunday.
