Dubbo MP Troy Grant and NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons presented seven students with their certificates, before the cadets performed a demonstration of what they had learnt.
Cadet Lauren Lozinski said it had been a really good program.
“We learnt how to run the pump and use the hoses and things like that. We do it once a week in our double and we go out and do different things like property control,” she said.
“I had to choose another elective and I thought I may as well do it.”
Teacher Paul Woodhead said the program had been running for five years now.
“While only a few of our students have joined RFS brigades what we have witnessed is a strong understanding and appreciation of the role of the RFS, the tasks that active RFS members must master and the respect for which we hold each other, our tankers and equipment, and the service itself.”
