But according to Scott Hatch, any success CSU can find over the remaining rounds of the 2017 season will be valuable for another reason.
He believes it will help attract more players to the club – and not just those who are attending university. Hatch feels increasing the talent pool at CSU will in turn make the students more competitive.
"We want to make that really clear, we're not just a uni side for uni players, we're a Bathurst team and anyone can come and be part of it,” he said.
"We don't want to be the ugly little brother or whatever to the Bulldogs, we want to build to be competitive against them.”
CSU has a tough run over the final rounds of the regular season, with a game against undefeated Orange Emus to follow the Parkes clash.
