Last time out, Not For Export impressed when running third in a Country Championships Qualifier at Dubbo Turf Club.
An injury to La La Loopsy meant Not For Export was elevated to the starting field for the $400,000 Final at Royal Randwick and he produced another stunning run there, shocking the field on his way to finishing third as a $201 outsider.
That result earned Lunn $43,000 in prize money.
After another third-placed finish at Dubbo and a disappointing ninth in the $80,000 Country Cup at Scone, Not For Export was tipped out.
His return comes in a Class 2 event with Kody Nestor set to take the ride.
While Lunn is a chance, Wyong trainer Allan Denham and fellow hometown hopes Clint Lundholm and Darren Hyde also having strong hopes.
Denham is bringing a number of horses from his stable to race at Dubbo, with Cockles set to jump from barrier nine with Greg Ryan onboard in the Western Plains Securtiy Class 2 Plate.
Cockles has placed at Gosford and Coonamble in his past two starts while Lundholm’s Dreadlock and Hyde’s Squared are also returning from spells.
Dreadlock showed real promise in his first preparation under Lundholm, scoring one win and two seconds before going for a five-month spell.
Squared hasn’t raced in roughly four months, but did have starts at both Randwick and Hawkesbury last time out.
Another of the more interesting events to be contested at Dubbo on Friday is the Dubbo Gold Cup Calcutta Benchmark 64 Handicap (1440m).
Denham has a leading contender in that event as well with three-year-old Happy Go Plucky coming off a win at Tamworth and placings at Cessnock and Newcastle while fellow visitor Aleacia Bennett, based at Cessnock, has Captain Scott coming in after a second-placed effort in a different race at Tamworth.
Dubbo’s eight-race meeting starts at 12.40pm.
