They were given a tour of the base and got an up-close look at some of the equipment used to help save lives in remote locations.
As well as a look at the aeromedical simulator, a replica of the plane used by the RFDS, children learned what they need to do if someone is injured.
Little Learners educator Sherryl Drady said the excursion was a real highlight for the kids.
“They love excursions and venturing out from the centre and they really enjoy the day,” she said.
The opportunity came because of Little Learners’ parents who work at the base, Ms Drady said.
“It’s a fantastic local community service and it’s great for children to come out here and have a look at what happens,” she said.
“The [the RFDS] are very organised and have lots of equipment and instruments the children can interact with. It’s very well set up for a young age group.”
