Wellington Pool Master Plan
Dubbo Regional Council has three concept designs for the new Wellington Pool complex and we want to know which design the community likes the best.
All three designs include a splash pad, warm water exercise and learn to swim pool, children's playground and kiosk and social area among other features.
The big differences between the designs are the location of the entrance and the number of lanes in the 50 metre pool.
All three designs are available to be viewed at dubbo.nsw.gov.au where you can also take part in our poll to choose your preferred design option.
If you would like to make a more detailed response to the Wellington Pool Master Plan Council are inviting public submissions from now until Thursday 20 July.
All the details are on the Council website or you can visit Customer Service at Dubbo or Wellington for more information.
Alcohol Free Zones
Also on public exhibition is the proposed Alcohol Free Zones in Wellington which will cover public roadways, footpaths and car and will be effective seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
After consultation with local Police, Council staff developed an alcohol free zone based on the Wellington CBD and fringe residential areas.
Community concern over law and order issues and the success of such zones in other parts of the Dubbo Regional Council serve as good reasons for these alcohol free zones to the established.
The proposed zone is on public exhibition from Wednesday 5 July until 5pm Friday 4 August. Visit dubbo.nsw.gov.au for more information.
NAIDOC celebrations
It was wonderful to see the community come out for the celebrations to mark the beginning of National NAIDOC Week on Monday.
The celebrations began with the Evelyn Barker memorial walk from the Church Street Rotunda to the corner of Darling and Church streets where we had the flag raising ceremony followed by the official opening.
The event was attended by NSW Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Sarah Mitchell with the Welcome to Country done by Aunt Narelle Boys. Aunty Di McNaboe spoke to this year’s NAIDOC theme “Language Matters” and the importance of keeping native language alive.
NAIDOC Week is a great way for people to celebrate or learn about Aboriginal culture and it is wonderful to see many in the community getting involved.
