Mr Gumley has announced his intention to stand in the East ward and said he was motivated to run because he could see room for the improvement for Dubbo.
“I’ve always had an interest in council and my view is if you can contribute you should. Now is the right time for me to put me hand up,” Mr Gumley said.
“I think with the recent amalgamation and some of the previous councillors deciding not to nominate, it’s an ideal time for Dubbo and council to have a mix of experienced hands and some fresh faces.”
Mr Gumley is the third person to announce their intention to stand who hasn’t been a previous councillor. He joins Jacob Perry, who will stand in the Wellington ward, and Vicki Etheridge, who is likely to stand in Central.
Three former councillors from Dubbo City Council have confirmed their intention to stand. Kevin Parker, Greg Mohr and Ben Shields have confirmed they will stand, while Greg Matthews and Bill Kelly were considering running.
Allan Smith and Rod Towney also haven’t rule out running.
At Wellington, Mr Perry will be joined on the ballot paper by former councillors Anne Jones, Mark Griggs and David Grant, while Alison Conn is also believed to be considering running.
The government area has been split into five wards, with two candidates to be elected from each.
The election will be held on September 9 and candidates can nominate between July 31 and August 9.
