Flight Centre’s Travel Trends report shows the most popular destinations for each postcode.
For those living under the 2830 postcode the five countries most visited in 2016 were: the United States, New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
Of those who explored new lands last year, 42 per cent travelled with a companion, 39 per cent travelled in a group and 20 per cent were by themselves.
Our neighbours in Wellington, who fall within the 2820 postcode, were slightly different.
The top five international destinations were: Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Philippines, Thailand and the United States. The most common form of travel was with a companion at 48 per cent.
Meanwhile in Narromine – postcode 2821 – people most commonly visited the United States, New Zealand, Indonesia, Vanuatu and Fiji.
When it comes to domestic travel, nation-wide it’s Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane that have people packing their bags.
Flight Centre CEO Graham Turner said the nation was in a Golden Age of Travel.
“Australians are, in general, optimistic and determined travellers, not deterred by geopolitical tensions, terrorism or currency fluctuations,” he said.
“Inevitably they will find a route between any two locations, no matter the distance or obstacles.”
