Spring Jazz was the only runner in Thursday’s Ladbrokes 0-3 Wins Final (516m) to have broken the 30-second barrier at Dawson Park, and the Pam Braddon-trained bitch showed why with a dominant win in the event.

Braddon and her husband Paul are regulars at Dawson Park, and they invariably leave with a winner or two and that was again the case on Thursday as they combined for a winning double.
Spring Jazz was sent out a $2.20 favourite on the back of a 29.86s win in the previous week’s heat, and while he she didn’t run the same time on Thursday her effort to clock 30.03s after rain had soaked the surface the previous evening was still good.
The race was as good as over once the boxes opened, with the Spring Gun x Taradearra bitch quickly finding the front and taking control of the event.
From there it was a matter of times and margins, and when she reached the finish line Spring Jazz had six-and-a-quarter lengths to spare on her rivals.
Lonnie ($32.50) went on to finish in second position, while Packey Keeping ($4.50) overcame a slow start to hit the line well and finish in third place.
The second half of the Braddon double came when Paul Braddon trained $1.90 favourite Little Cindy won the Ladbrokes Multi Maker Stakes (516m), otherwise known as the ‘Battle of Cowra and Canowindra’.
Trainers from the southern towns made up all seven runners, with the Braddons supplying the first, third and fourth placegetters.
Rodney McDonald-trained chasers finished second, fifth and seventh while Canowindra’s Paul Britt had Lucky Thirteen finish in sixth.
Little Cindy ran a time of 30.17s in beating Dana Kis ($25.90) by two-and-three-quarter lengths, with Tina’s Magic ($6.40) finishing in third place.
Thursday’s meeting came just days after the Dubbo Greyhound Racing Club raised in excess of $1200 to help the Ryan Medley Appeal.
Gate takings from last Sunday’s 11-race card will be donated to the fundraising efforts, which club president Shayne Stiff admitted was a great result.
“We’ve always been about helping the community and it was something we were happy to be involved with,” he said.
“If we can work in with other groups in town, or sporting clubs that want to have an event, we’re happy to do it and to get a tick over $1200 was a terrific result for a very good cause.
“Ryan has a long road ahead of him and hopefully that money and the support can help him and his family out a bit.”
