Dean Matthews dreams of a time where he can name the same Dubbo Kangaroos side two weeks in a row but that won’t be happening for Saturday’s trip to Orange.

The Roos’ produced some of its best rugby last week in a win over the Forbes Platypi but key men Jock Brownhill and Viliame Turuva will be missing for Saturday’s clash with Orange City.
While disappointed not to have the top side, Matthews was excited about the opportunity for Pat Berryman, the colts scrumhalf who will start in the number nine jersey on Saturday.
Berryman is the latest colt to debut in the top grade this season, joining the likes of Charlie Lawry, Angus O’Connor, Kyle Gibson and Josh Jasprizza.
“We’ve been watching Patty for a couple of weeks and we’ve chatted to him and we think he’s up to it,” Matthews said.
“With Jock out it’s a perfect chance for him and we’re looking forward to it.”
Berryman has trained with the Roos’ first grade side this week and has been backed by Matthews to “play what’s in front of him”.
The wing position vacated by Turuva is not so easily filled, with the returning Lars Newman or veteran Jason Coyle likely to slot in.
In terms of Saturday’s match, Matthews expects a “tough” contest despite City battling for much of this season and sitting in sixth currently but is keen for his side to build on last week’s win.
“We’ve spoken about not letting the good work we did last week go to waste,” he said. “We’ve got to build and go again.”
Kick off at Pride Park on Saturday is 3.15pm.
