I was delighted to take part in a number of the interactive activities including a “beer goggles” obstacle course and a “know your standards” drinks quiz.
There was also a selection of delicious mocktails to try, such as the Grape Expectations and A Sidecar Names Desire to name a few. It was fantastic to see so many community members taking part in the NSW State Library’s initiative.
The Macquarie Regional Library Wellington branch will be hosting a similar event at the end of July, which I encourage all residents to take part of.
Canberra Business Chamber Executives visit our region
We were thrilled to collaborate with Dubbo Chamber of Commerce and Fly Pelican to bring the CEO Speaker Series to Dubbo. On Monday we welcomed the chair of the Canberra Business Chamber and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aspen Medical, Glenn Keys, and CEO of Canberra Business Chamber, Robyn Hendry, to the region.
After a day of touring the city’s major business precincts, including Dubbo Regional Livestock Markets, Apex Club’s Caltex Park, Barden Park and Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Mr Keys addressed a number of local businesses at a presentation held at the Milestone Hotel that evening. This was a fantastic opportunity to Council to work alongside Dubbo Chamber of Commerce and Fly Pelican to really showcase the region and the major business drawcards to executives from the country’s capital. A big congratulations is in order to all those involved in making Mr Keys and Ms Hendry’s experience in Dubbo so memorable.

Council has taken the 2040 Community Strategic Plan on the road to hear from the communities in the villages that are part of the Dubbo Regional Council Local Government Area. The Regional Roadshow kicked off in Eumungerie last week where we received some great feedback from the attendees on what they want for the future of their community. Since then, the 2040 team have held meetings in Ballimore, Wongarbon and Stuart Town.
The final meeting will be held tomorrow evening at the Geurie Memorial Hall at 5.30pm, with light refreshments available There are two more Community Summits set to take place this weekend, at the Dubbo RSL Club on Saturday July 1 and Wellington Soldiers Club on Sunday July 2. Both Community Summits will run from 12.30pm to 3pm.
For more information on 2040 and to register your attendance, please go to www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au.
Road closures
Please be aware of changed traffic conditions on Darling Street, which will be closed to south-bound traffic between Erskine and Talbragar streets from July 3 to 5. This will allow Council to complete sewer main construction work which could not proceed in June due to construction constraints that were identified during the works.
Council appreciates the patience of business owners, motorists, and pedestrians, and apologises for any inconvenience caused by the further construction works in this location.
