An Eva Reith-Snare hat-trick in the space of just six minutes inspired Orange High School to a 4-0 win over Dubbo College, helping the Hornets open the second day of this week’s Astley Cup tie with a commanding victory.

It was a much-needed one in the context of the overall tie too, considering it extended OHS’ 90-point overnight lead to 150.
After dominating the first half but failing to score, the Hornets drew blood in the 38th minute with Reith-Snare’s first.
In the next six minutes the Confederates sensation scored another two goals which stretched the home side’s lead to 3-0.
The gun midfielder – who played up front on Friday – has accounted for seven of OHS’ eight Astley Cup goals, after a four-goal effort against Bathurst last week.
Tiff Davis extended the lead to four in the 46th minute, a buffer far more reflective of the possession OHS enjoyed than the 0-0 half-time scoreline.
The opening half was highlighted by a sensational performance from Dubbo goalkeeper Lilli Campbell who saved over ten shots – most of them coming from Reith-Snare.
It was an intriguing battle between the two, considering they’re teammates at Confederates, one which Campbell undeniably won in the opening period.
Reith-Snare ended up with the last laugh, obviously, but that can’t take away from Campbell’s phenomenal showing. She was the best player on the field, despite conceding four.
Even though the Hornets couldn’t capitalise on their early chances, coach Pete Shea wasn’t getting impatient as he acknowledged Campbell’s showing.
“Lilli was incredible,” Shea said.
“She gave us very narrow angles and holes to shoot for, so she did a wonderful job.”
Reith-Snare has been the most influential player in this year’s Astley Cup hockey ties and Shea gave an indication as to why she’s so effective.
“Having her there rather than in the midfield gives us a lot of opportunities and she can finish, as you see from seven goals in two games,” Shea said.
It was a good, hard game of hockey that we managed to close out.

It’s easy to get caught up in Reith-Snare’s display but Shea noticed strong contributions from other players as well.
“Tiff Davis did a very good job in the midfield,” he said.
“Ally Cook did a wonderful job and young Kiana Pakinga was excellent as well. It was a good, hard game of hockey that we managed to close out pretty well.”
