It has been dubbed ‘Lorraine the Crane’, after the call was put out to school students in Dubbo, Wellington, Gilgandra and Narromine.
Eleven-year-old Jaiden Pearce said he had been surprised but excited when he learned his entry had won.
“[We were] talking in class and talking about rhyming it and I said Lorraine,” he said.
Jaiden won a toy crane, as well as a certificate and $1000 for his school.
Mum Angela Teale and Orana Heights Public School principal Annie Munro were both very proud.
“He’s just a really good kid,” Ms Munro said.
She said Jaiden would have a say in how the $1000 was spent, and it was “definitely going to be something the kids will use”.
