Thirteen-year-old Raffaella Jones couldn’t stop smiling on Monday morning.
The young violinist was awarded first place in the graded string solo for preliminary and first grades.
Performing was something Raffaella said she loved to do.
“I get a little bit nervous but once I get on stage I’m mostly okay,” she said.
Rafaella said she had been playing the violin for the past five years. She wanted to play an instrument, the young musician said, and violin seemed like a fun choice.
“I like performing, I don’t know when I’ll stop. I just want to keep doing it,” she said.
Second place in the section went to Lily Burn, while Finn Randell was third.
The pianists will take to the stage on Tuesday.
