On Thursday presenters Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and co will be visiting Dubbo Taronga Western Plains Zoo, while the Wellington Caves will be the backdrop for the weather presentations.
The special visit is the result of a partnership with Destination NSW and Dubbo Regional Council.
Zoo Director Matthew Fuller said planning to get the Today show to the Zoo had been going on for a while and that it was a was a great opportunity to not only showcase its conservation efforts, but what the City and surrounding region has to offer.
“We’re very grateful for Destination NSW for making this happen,” Mr Fuller said.
The Today Show will feature some of the many attractions the Zoo has to offer including the Zoofari experience, Savannah Cabins and more.
The news presentation will be held at the Zoo’s Savannah Viewing Area, with gates opening to the public at 5:30am.
DRC administrator Michael Kneipp said the Today Show has a daily audience reach of over 300,000 viewers, so it was a great opportunity to showcase the region and all it has to offer tourists.
Mr Kneipp said it would be exciting to have the local Zoo and Wellington Caves featured on the program.
“Dubbo is not ‘the bush’ it’s a sophisticated City,” he said.
“We’ve got a range of fantastic schools, hospitals and more and we’re a very multicultural City.”
Mr Kneipp said he was excited to have the Today Show presenters at Dubbo.
“Lisa Wilkinson is a fantastic person in the media…,” he said.
Mr Kneipp said the City of Dubbo was a highly recognised brand and came third in a list of the top major rural destinations behind Tamworth and Broken Hill.
