Dubbo’s Trent Pengilly will have a first class view of Wednesday night’s State of Origin match after his ticket was drawn in the Dubbo College raffle.

The raffle has raised thousands for the Ryan Medley Appeal, to help Ryan Medley in his recovery after a serious neck injury during a Group 11 rugby league match.

Dubbo College vice principal and raffle co-ordinator Craig May said he was delighted with the response.

“We had something that we we hoping to raise $1000 and with everything added together we’re probably closer to $4000. It’s great we’ve been able to do it,” he said.

“What happened [to Ryan] was shocking and it’s close to our heart with Ryan coming through the college and being one of our best rugby league players and students, but most importantly a great person.

“We had people coming in who had heard about it, we had teachers, former students and sporting identities from all sports, everyone has just supported it.

“We just hope it can go some way to making a good recovery for Ryan.”
