Bidders from across Australia and around the world will have their eyes on Dubbo this week when the city hosts the state’s largest single vendor civil and earth-moving auction.

Millions of dollars worth of specialised mining and quarrying equipment will go under the hammer in an unreserved auction on Wednesday, conducted by Pickles Auctions on behalf of MAAS Plant Hire.
Managing director Wes Maas said they expected 1500 bidders on site, with about 70 per cent of those expected to stay at least one night in Dubbo and some arriving as early as the weekend. Up to 30,000 are set to tune in online.
“It is a genuine, unreserved auction – everything will be sold on the day,” Pickles Auctions Dubbo senior manager Peter Ryan said.
“And it’s good for Dubbo. We’ve got a lot of people flying in, we’ve had a lot of interest from around the country … so I think it will be good for the town.”
The sale marks the closure of MAAS Group’s east coast plant hire division. Mr Maas said Dubbo was “perfectly, centrally located” to host the auction.
Removing the equipment would require “a lot of trucks”, Mr Ryan said with a smile.
“Pretty well all roads out of Dubbo will have something heavy running along it.”
The auction starts at 11am on Wednesday.
