Everingham, who races for Zagame Autosport, had to start from position 10 after incurring a penalty in race one but it fired him up and he worked his way through the field.
He picked up some front wing damage from his midfield battles that caused understeer in his car but it didn’t stop his charge.
He had to work hard for it, finishing just half a second ahead of Zane Morse
“It was awesome! Struggled with a little bit of understeer due to the damage to the front wing, I guess that’s what you have to do when you’re coming from the back,” Everingham said.
“Finally got a first race win and it’s awesome! It’s definitely crazy going from tenth to first. I guess it’s that progression and finally learning and honing my skills in the car.”
He finished fifth in the final race of the weekend after rain upset the balance of his car and was 10th in race one. He finished just one point outside of third in the round result.
The win was another significant milestone after the teenager finished third for the round at Barbagello at the start of the month.
It was also a big weekend for Everingham’s Zagame Autosport outfit. In race one, his team mate Ryan Suhle claimed the team’s first win, before Everingham’s own success.
Suhle said he was pleased the pace he and Everingham ha displayed all weekend. With second place on the podium, Suhle was also the Burson Auto Parts Rookie of the Round.
“We’re pretty excited for both of us to have a race win on the same weekend. It really shows that Zagame Autosport’s coming together as a team and we’re starting to get the pace,” Suhle said.
