The 16-year-old was one of only two entrants for the competition, alongside Georgina Brown.
When it came to the older ladies it was Rose Broughton who was named as the 2017 Showgirl.
Ms Broughton, who works at Pilates Exclusive, said she was humbled by the announcement.
Jess McWilliam and D’arcy Ryder missed out on the title.
Meanwhile, Lauren Amor is the first ever Dubbo Rural Achiever.
Maree said she was excited for the year ahead.
“I’m looking forward to next year, bit it’s not just the show weekend when it all comes together, it’s the whole year prior to it,” she said.
As well as spending the year promoting the show, the Teenage Showgirl had an important message she wanted to be heard.
“One thing I raised in my interview was the suicide rates of farmers especially during time of hardship and drought,” Maree said.
Despite only just taking over the title, Maree said the experience was something she would definitely recommend for others.
“We only had the two of us this year and it would have been great to have more involved,” she said.
2016 Showgirl Savannah Dimmock echoed the statement.
“You don’t have to behave a certain way, you don’t have to look a certain way, it’s an open community and anyone can do it,” she said.
It had been a great learning experience being the Teenage Showgirl, Savannah said.
