Cr Col Hamilton had put forward a motion to adopt a moratorium on all new CSG related issues and structures, on and within the council owned and controlled infrastructure and roads.
At its May meeting the council voted to request information on any applications submitted to the state government on CSG issues.
General manager, Jane Redden, said if any projects were to go ahead, there would be significant consultation. “I’ve spent quite a bit of time looking at the regulations and I don’t believe council put any sort of bans on unless its on our land and we don’t have much land that (CSG exploration) could happen on, and if we did we would prepare a submission like everyone else,” she said.
Cr Hamilton said his motion was to protect residents. “Reflecting back to intent and it was to try and protect the residents of our shire, protect us from what is happening around us in Warren and Tottenham.”
