The 30-year-old was tracked down in Cairns by members of the Queensland Police tactical operations unit (TOU) on Friday morning.
Detectives attached to Orana Local Area Command received information that the man may be headed to Cairns, and quickly shared it with their northern counterparts.
He was tracked down at a fast food restaurant in Mackay on Thursday, but escaped after allegedly pulling a knife and threatening two officers.
On Thursday police were forced to ram the man’s vehicle as he once again tried to get away. While he has been captured, it may be a while before the matters relating to Monday’s incident are brought before a court in NSW.
It is believed the man has outstanding matters in Queensland which, together with the incident at the fast food restaurant, will be dealt with prior to him being returned south of the border.
