Ms Loudon is one of the entrants in the 2017 Dubbo Show’s Rural Achiever Competition.
The Dubbo Show Society said the Rural Achiever Competition aimed to find the person most suited to represent young, regional men and women of NSW.
Like the Showgirl, the entrants are judged on their personality, confidence, knowledge and presentation.
Ms Loudon said to her, the Rural Achiever was someone who was involved in the agriculture world and promoted agriculture.
Entering the competition was something the 20-year-old said she did purely for the experience and the opportunity to meet people with a similar interest in agriculture and cattle.
“The minimum age is 20, cut off is 29, so I’ve got another nine years to do it. I thought I’d give it a crack and if I don’t get it this time I’ve got another nine years to give it a try,” Ms Loudon said.
Currently studying at CSU Wagga Wagga Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management, Ms Loudon said she was hoping to end up working in cattle consultancy.
She was introduced to the world of cattle in year 7 at St John’s High School.
“It’s a great industry working with great people. You’ll learn new stuff everyday, you’re always learning new things and about new technology,” Ms Loudon said.
The Rural Achiever Competition is growing rapidly across NSW with more than 50 people entering the event annually.
As well as the networking and travel opportunities Dubbo’s Rural Achiever also receives about $3000 in prizes.
The Rural Achiever will be announced on Saturday.
