For the first time on Thursday the firm joined in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, the “most successful event of its kind” in the nation and Cancer Council Australia’s most popular fundraising event.
The firm invited other professionals in the city to take part in the morning tea with the goal of raising at least $500.
Soup, scones, slice, cake, pancakes and cookies were enjoyed at the event that kept to the “gather, share, give” theme of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in 2017.
Duffy Elliott Lawyers staff member Carene Smith gave the theme the thumbs up after confessing that the firm was “known for its morning teas”.
“We’re gathering, we’re sharing and we’re giving back to a great cause,” she said.
In 2016 Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea raised $11.9 million to support the battle against cancer through the funding of research, prevention and support services for people affected by the disease.
Cancer Council Australia has set a target of more than $13 million in 2017 and is encouraging the hosting of morning teas at workplaces, schools and homes across June.
