On Sunday, 15-year-old Aiden Lake ran on to nib Stadium in Perth as part of the NSW Indigenous under-16 side, which played a curtain-raiser to the South Sydney Rabbitohs-Melbourne Storm NRL match.
The young fullback and Delroy Campus student, who was part of the Western Rams under-16s this season, is one of five talented athletes achieving success.
Will Telley, 12, came 10th in the 50m freestyle at the NSW All-Schools swimming carnival at Homebush earlier this month, having only taken up training in the past two years. Telley was joined by fellow Delroy student, 13-year-old Courtenay Wark-Austin, who came in seventh in the 50m backstroke, improving her personal best time by a massive seven seconds.
Meanwhile, 14-year-old Kenzie Macfarlane took to the hockey field as part of the Northern Territory team recently. The capable goalkeeper missed out on selection in the NSW under-15s side but was placed on a pick-up list and selected by the Northern Territory to play in the national titles.
Another Delroy Campus student, Bailey Lacrosse who is 13-years-old, has been selected as part of the Western combined high schools under-15 touch football side.
Dubbo College PDHPE teacher Peta Mcananey said the success was to be applauded.
“These students are excellent ambassadors for Dubbo College,” she said. “Their hard work and dedication to their chosen sports is to be commended.”
