As of the week ending May 21 Dubbo’s average price for unleaded petrol sat at 135.7 cents per litre (cpl) – 5.3cpl above average in the Central West.
The ongoing high prices were reflected in the NRMA Bowser Buster chart which ranked Dubbo as the fourth most expensive location for unleaded petrol in NSW.
It revealed the only locations more expensive than Dubbo were Bega, Glen Innes and Tumut who topped the chart at 137.7 cents per litre.
A NRMA spokesperson said Lithgow (124.7) had the lowest average price for unleaded petrol in the Central West, followed by Orange (127.1), Bathurst (128.1), Mudgee (132) and Forbes (135).
The spokesperson acknowledged the significant variations in price throughout the Central West.
She added that the average price of unleaded petrol in Dubbo remains “too high” when compared with prices across the remainder of the Central West.
It is however, unarguably a more affordable figure compared to January 12 when Dubbo’s average price peaked at 145.1cpl.
The peak was just shy of the highest average to be recorded in the Central West for 2017 at 145.8cpl in Bathurst on January 19.
The lowest average for Dubbo was recorded on April 15 with 135.2cpl, and on May 21 for the Central West with Lithgow recording an average of 124.7cpl.
The spokesperson said motorists can expect minimal change to prices in the lead-up to the June Long Weekend.
“At this point in time we don’t expect current regional prices in the Central West to change much in the next two to three weeks,” she said.
“We recommend motorists use the My NRMA Fuel App to help them make an informed choice about where the cheapest fuel is, so you can keep money in your pocket for more fun purchases while you’re travelling.”
