The opening few seconds of the highly anticipated Boronia Cup match basically set the tone for the remainder of the game, with the Panthers rushing downfield and being held up over the Coonabarabran line within 20 seconds of the kick off before scoring out wide before a minute had elapsed.
It simply did not get any better for the Unicorns, as Gilgandra continually punctured the Unicorns paper thin defence to run in a point a minute, much to the delight of their big following.
In the end the scoreboard read 72-0, but it could have been even worse for the Unicorns had the first half not been shortened by 17 minutes due to an unfortunate injury to one of their players who required ambulance attention.
It will be a real test for the club as to how they regroup, but regroup they must as they will host the Gulgong Terriers next weekend.
The Terriers returned to form with a 30-16 win over Dunedoo but it was closer than it appeared as the Swans only scored one try less than the hosts.
At Coonamble, the Bears had to come from behind in the second half to down a determined Baradine outfit after the scores were locked at 18-all at half time
The Magpies went to the lead 24-18 in the second stanza but were eventually run down by the home side, with the Grizzlies taking the game 36-24.
