Thursday night’s presentation in Dubbo comes as the Western NSW Local Health District celebrates innovation, quality and patient safety in health throughout May.
Staff across the Local Health District submitted 70 projects into the 11 categories that had a focus on improving results for patients through innovation.
Finalists presented their work at a symposium on Thursday ahead of the presentation.
The Local Solutions award was won by Dubbo Health Service with ‘Sad news, sorry business. Our last chance of caring’.
The project identified inadequacies with the mortuary in Dubbo, in particular for obese individuals.
The team developed solutions to improve the facility and how their services were delivered.
The project also took out the People’s Choice Award.
Dubbo’s ‘Eat right, sleep right, move right’ took out the Collaborative Team award for providing consistent high performing proven results in a busy clinical environment, including decreased inpatient falls and pressure injuries, minimising manual handling injuries and giving nutrition the importance it deserves.
