International band the Bootleg Beach Boys will be giving off good vibrations of beach time vibes, perfect for the colder months.
One of the tribute band singers Fran King spoke to Fairfax Media last Tuesday.
While it was 4pm AEST, for Fran it was just before 7am in Dublin..
The Bootleg Beachboys have played all over Europe, but this is their first time playing in Australia.
“We’re really looking forward to it. It’s our first one,” he said.
“So it’s an exciting time for all of us… We’re looking forward to getting those harmonies out.
“Some tours have been a week long, mostly in London, so it’ll be nice to do Australia and play all over.”
Fran has relatives in Sydney and said it will be nice to see them while he is on tour.
Although the band members have known one another for many years, they have only been together as the Bootleg Beach Boys for just over a year.
Fran said they had the idea to do a project together for a while and were fortunate enough to finally get the Beach Boys tribute show together.
Australia is so far their biggest tour and will see them play in 26 cities.
Fran said he was a huge Beach Boys fan and that one of the special things about them was that their audiences ranges from people in their 20’s to 70’s.
“The age demographic (of Beach Boys fans) is a huge demographic and completely across the board,” he said.
“It really is fantastic to play for audiences of three generations.”
While the tour will see them play in places including Canberra, Dee Why, Rockhampton, Adelaide and Perth, Fran said it was also important to them to get out and play to regional towns such as Dubbo.
“I think it’s important we don’t just focus on the big cities,” he said.
“It’s great to be able to get out and spread the love.”
The Bootleg Beach Boys will be playing in Dubbo on Thursday, June 1 at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
